Visitation Arts

The Visual Arts Program is strongly oriented to provide students the opportunity to develop an informed appreciation of art, an interest in learning more about art, and a decisive encouragement to create their own personal artwork.  Students become familiar with media and techniques.  They learn to experiment with expressing ideas visually and to solve problems with multiple solutions in a creative, personal way.  The primary intent of the Visual Arts Program is to give students the tools to creatively express themselves and the wonder of God's creation along with a comprehensive education in the Arts with a strong, spiritual Catholic component.

The Academy's Theatre Program focuses on each student's expression of her thoughts, freedom, and creativity.  Through movement and speech, our students learn the joys of the stage, and some eventually move on to performing arts high schools.

Our Music Program from Pre-K through 8th Grade exposes our students to reading notes on a staff, identifying periods of history through music, and the joy of creating sounds with various instruments.  Different cultures, styles of music, and identifying instruments by sound are the focal points of our music department.  We offer choir group for our First Friday masses as well as a Cabaret Troupe that performs twice a year.

Visitation Academy has produced the only all-girls Brass Band in the United States.  Every student in the Middle School chooses a brass instrument and participates in performances twice a year.  They learn to read music specific to their learned instrument and how to participate in a musical piece as part of an ensemble.  This teaches our Middle School students how to collaborate and work together to create beautiful pieces of music.
