Language Arts

* Students explore communities from five perspectives: history,
geography, economics, government, and citizenship
* Analyzation of graphs and charts assists in comparing lifestyles
and cultural differences around the world
* Skills developed include: research and collection of data, oral
and written presentation of information, and global map reading
Mathematics
* Philosophy of Mathematics curriculum: Hands-on investigation and
reading in mathematics
* Skills developed include: problem-solving, decision making, and
mental math
* Students use manipulatives in both individual and group settings.
* Topics include: identifying patterns and relationships; estimation
and measurement; comparison of numbers and data; mastery of
multiplication and division facts; probability of an event's
occurrence; and an introduction to decimal numbers and fractions
Science
* Philosophy of Science curriculum: Observation and hands-on
experiments
* Skills developed include: creating models, making charts,
classifying objects, and formulating a hypothesis based on
observations and experiments
* Topics include: celestial phenomenon; forms and properties of
matter; physical and chemical changes; energy; sound and light; good
health habits; force and motion; and conservation and protection of
the earth's resources
